Happy New Year!
Fashion..! Even though it may not currently be that relevant while most of the country is in lockdown and we hardly think about dressing up and what looks good on, I would like to talk about clothes, fashion and how it can make us feel.
Have you ever noticed how clothes and colours make you feel? I don’t know about you but I find it incredible how wearing a certain style, colour or a brand new trendy outfit can affect the way one feels. It can boost our confidence, improve the way we carry ourselves, influence our mood and the energy we project into the world. If you are ever in doubt about yourself, feeling down or in need of that extra boost (we all do), a little bit of shopping therapy can be good for the soul, within reason.
As we get older our priorities change and we start worrying about our future, saving money, and sometimes forget about the little things that can have a massive impact on both our mental and physical health. Getting new clothes can make us look better, motivate us to lose weight and be happier with ourselves. There is another side that can make some people feel bad, where they see skinny models and feel pressured to be them instead of just admiring them. It is important to pamper and treat ourselves from time to time, and it does not even have to cost that much. We certainly waste money on other useless things that may even be harming our health.
I would also like to mention the importance of getting the right cut for your body shape. I absolutely love fashion and how it looks on models, however, it is not always suitable for curvier shapes. Don’t forget to check what your body shape is.
You may miss getting ready to go to work or out, so consider occasionally dressing up at home. I really miss dressing up to go to work or out and about as this is the best part of going out for me! Also, consider going through your wardrobe and only keep clothes that make you feel good where the rest can be given to charity or up-cycled; get rid of the old energy and somehow I am sure it will be replaced with new!
Fashion is a big part of our lives from daily routine to aesthetics and visual stimulation, and everyone sees it in their own way. For some fashion is wearing cool latest outfits, for others it is having a style of their own. Whatever it is for you, always remember to love yourself on the inside first and, in the words of Take That, “Let it shine”.
